Study objectives: To establish and maintain a stakeholder cohort within Indlela’s Behavioural Hub (B-Hub) to support stakeholder engagement across multiple research projects.
Study description: We are establishing a prospective stakeholder cohort within Indlela’s Behavioural Hub (B-Hub) to support stakeholder engagement across multiple current and future public health research projects. Stakeholders will be recruited to support research across a range of public health priorities, including but not limited to HIV, TB, NCDs, digital health, and vaccine confidence. Stakeholders may include individuals in relevant professional, technical, managerial, advisory, or leadership roles across government, implementing organisations, research and academic institutions, international organisations, civil society organisations, and other sectors.
The stakeholder cohort will provide a centralised and ethically approved platform for identifying, recruiting, and engaging stakeholders. These individuals will facilitate timely and ongoing stakeholder involvement throughout the research lifecycle, while ensuring that participation in relevant projects remains voluntary. This approach is expected to strengthen the quality, relevance, and translation of research into evidence-informed policy and practice.
Recruitment: Potential stakeholders will be identified through existing professional networks, collaborating organisations, government departments, implementing partners, academic institutions, professional associations, and referrals from existing stakeholders or research collaborators.
Target population:
The following inclusion criteria will be considered:
- Adults ≥ 18 years
- Reside in South Africa with professional responsibilities relevant to South Africa
- Currently holds a relevant professional, technical, managerial, advisory, or leadership role within government, an implementing organisation, a research or academic institution, an international or multilateral organisation, or another organisation relevant to the study
Willing to provide written informed consent
Exclusion criteria:
- Unable to participate in stakeholder engagement activities in English or another study-supported language where interpretation is not available
Sample size: We will recruit a cohort of up to 500 stakeholders.
Duration: 12 months
